Conference Bonus: A Walking Tour of Edinburgh, led by a Master of Social Work student!
Eliza is a tour guide with over 11 years’ experience showing visitors around the highlights of Edinburgh's historic Old Town. The tour offered to conference delegates and their partners will be a 1.5 hour walking tour around the Royal Mile and the oldest graveyard in the city, Greyfriars Kirkyard.
Delegates will hear about the beginnings of the Castle and the Royal Mile, the famous Scottish witch trials and the resurrection men of the early 1800's. Delegates will also visit the site of famous Auld Town Jail, the grave that Greyfriars Bobby guarded for 14 years and the grave-stones that inspired Charles Dickens and J.K Rowling to write some of the most famous literary works in history.
This walking tour covers hundreds of years of Edinburgh history, across a reasonably short distance, with no stairs en route, making it accessible for most people.
Eliza will lead two walking groups on Saturday 21st April, one from 10 to 11.30am and the other from 2 to 3.30pm. Tours will leave from outside the Chrystal Macmillan Building, 15A George Square. Participants will pay Eliza direct - £6 each – for the tour.
Places will be restricted to 20 people on each tour. If you would like to take part, you must book a place or places by emailing Eliza: firstname.lastname@example.org
